Today’s post is a birthday shout out to Robinson Training Solutions. Yes, that’s my sales coaching practice. But if I don’t toot the horn a bit, who else will?

This week is another milestone as I conduct the 2,250th 30-minute live online sales coaching session since the birth of Robinson Training Solutions in September 2012.

Believe me that is a lot of preparation, training and sales coaching!

So that’s where we are and here is how we got there:

In February, 2011 I left the corporate world at age 62 after spending most of my adult life in sales, sales management, and sales training vocations. Within 30 days I immediately began writing the book that was on my bucket list from years earlier. Sixteen months later Sell is NOT a Four Letter Word was completed, published and available for sale. This 274 page work contains 116 individual short sales training topics, designed for use as sales meeting lessons. For those desiring a DIY experience, when coupled with my Leader Guide, any manager or business owner of a blue collar service business has in their hands an inexpensive, yet relevant soft skills sales training course requiring virtually no manager preparation to use and deliver.

About a month following the publication of the book I got a call from Keith Gaudreault, a colleague and prior operations manager with the same national company where I was on staff as a division sales coach. We had become friends as he and his sales people participated weekly in my 30-minute Dial Doug audio-cast, back in the day. He shared with me that he had also left the company and purchased an Orkin franchise in Mobile, AL., relocating his family from the Midwest to South Alabama’s beautiful Eastern Shore.

Keith wanted to provide weekly training for his sales folks there, and after looking through my book he liked what he saw and read. He asked me if I would conduct weekly video conference sales training sessions for his team, and that’s what birthed the sales coaching side of Robinson Training Solutions. I will always be grateful for Keith’s nudge along with his trust that he thought I could add value to his enterprise. In case you’re curious, yesterday I conducted the 400th weekly online sales coaching session for Keith’s locations, now consisting of three franchises in both Alabama and Georgia.

Now back to the birthday celebration. Due to many much-appreciated video and word-of- mouth testimonials, along with a simple, informational website; the RTS client list has grown and expanded to about a dozen blue collar service professions. Since I am supposed to be retired, I’ve self-imposed a work schedule of only three training days per week. This ensures I still have plenty of time for my best girl of 42 years, as well as all six grandchildren.

And oh, before I forget, yes I still write each week. Since 2013 I’ve published a FREE weekly newsletter called Selling Point. You can subscribe here and also access nearly 400 past issues from my cavernous archives!

In closing, I still do what I do every week at age 70 because I truly enjoy encouraging salespeople and helping them increase their incomes and improve their family’s lifestyle. If my coaching, training, blog articles, or encouragement have meant something to you and your career, please comment below. I would love to hear from you!

So Once Again, Happy Birthday Robinson Training Solutions!
